United States Steel Corporation has an opening for an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner at its Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh Pa. . The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for supporting the companys health, wellness and safety objectives through the coordination and performance of occupational and non occupational health screenings, illness evaluation and treatment, drug screenings, wellness, work injury, first aid, disability management, and return to work services.This position will work under the medical direction of the Corporate Medical Director and/or another physician if delegated to by the Corporate Medical Director. This position will administratively report to the Supervisor of Health Services and will include some primary nursing responsibilities independently performed, or shared with other RNs in the department. Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform physical exams, and screening assessments to include the performance of vital signs, vision screening, audio, pulmonary, EKG, and drug screening. Perform evaluations for pre-placement, wellness, episodic illness and injury care, work injury, travel medicine, and other related clinical activities consistent with occupational / employer based primary health care delivered on employer premises. Treat minor injuries of all types to include the cleaning and dressing of injury, removing foreign substance from eyes, applying BLS and other appropriate emergency treatment before advanced medical or surgical care can be given. Perform or assist with minor suturing when required. Initiate EMS when required, and sends injured or acutely ill to general hospital for diagnosis or further treatment when the extent or nature of the injury requires such. For work relate care prepares case records showing cause, extent of injury, along with other pertinent information, assigning case number to each case and other relevant activities unique to USS recordkeeping and consistent with OSHA guideline. Forwards above information to appropriate department(s) and schedules return visit with the injured patient. Perform clinical and organizational tasks for special programs including but not limited to annual influenza campaign and health fair/wellness promotions. Perform clinical duties associated with travel medicine program Perform or assist with maintaining the operation of the Medical department in assorted roles not limited to that of an advanced practice nurse. Perform or assists other nurses and staff members with day-to-day HDQ clinic tasks and responsibilities, such as administration of injections and immunizations, as well as phone triage, advice calls and client counseling. Cleans and sterilizes equipment, prepares bandages or dressing, prepares anesthetics, and other miscellaneous clinical and medical office tasks if assigned by supervisor or medical director. Participate as team member in support of Health Services Mission to the United States Steel Corporations efforts to zero injury at all of its facilities.
