The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides an advanced level of nursing care based upon graduate education and broad experience to the psychiatric patient and their families. The CNS practices in collaboration with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. The CNS practices within and conforms to the guidelines set by the New Jersey Board of Nursing (NJSA 13:37) for the regulation of nurses in advanced practice certified as nurse practitioners/clinical nurse specialists. All methods of practice shall conform to written hospital policies, procedures, and protocols be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. The CNS will demonstrate Saint Barnabas philosophy to Total Quality Management by actively applying that philosophy in all dealings with both internal and external customers.Requirements:A. Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing required.B. Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center required.C. Licensed by the New Jersey Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and certified by the NJBN as a clinical nurse specialist in advanced practice with prescription authority required.D. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills.E. Minimum two years experience required.
